Exploring innovative solutions for Uganda's climate adaptation challenges
The Appropriate Technology Center (ATC) is an initiative focused on promoting the design, development, and application of simple, affordable, and sustainable technologies that respond to real community needs. ATC emphasizes solutions that are practical, easy to maintain, and adapted to local conditions, making use of locally available materials, skills, and knowledge. The center supports technologies in key areas such as water supply, sanitation, renewable energy, agriculture, and environmental conservation. These technologies aim to improve access to clean water, enhance hygiene and sanitation, increase food security, reduce environmental degradation, and promote efficient use of natural resources. ATC also plays a role in community capacity building by encouraging skills development, knowledge sharing, and local innovation. By empowering communities to adopt and manage appropriate technologies, the center contributes to improved livelihoods, public health, environmental sustainability, and long-term community resilience.
